Haveri: The veil between GPMaji President Kotresappa Bassegani and MLA Neharu Olekara has now turned into disaster. On June 1, Bashegani had complained to the villagers of Kanavalli that 434 pipes in the irrigation department had been stolen. The villagers were arrested by the police on June 3.

On Monday, villagers were taken to the Mullaperiyar ordinance village in the presence of the officials of the Mullakaneri village, which is the lifeblood of the Kanavalli Somanakkatte Basanakatte Hanumanahalli village, and utilized for the irrigation project through the UTP canal. But now the villagers are sitting on the road blocking the Somanakatte Cross, demanding that a case be filed against them against the villagers.

MLA Neharu Olekara, who arrived at the protest site, said that the pipes that I had brought when I was the MLA and chairman of the Taska Personnel Committee were kept in the department. Kotresappa Bassegani, who had been the GM president for three years, had betrayed the people of the village by not providing drinking water.

Now that our party has come to power, I have not seen the wailing of the people of Kanavalli village over the MLA. He said he would discuss the KDP meeting on the 27th. The villagers of Kanavalli Somanakatte Machapur Basanakatte Hanumanahalli were involved in the protest, including Basavaraja Kazasura Mallanagowda Hanumagowda Basavaraja’s name, Naganna Konawar’s KC Kori Padmaraja.
